Challenge Description:

Listen to Muse’s Melody (The Learn To Read Song) part 1. Create your own dance moves and motions to accompany each letter in the alphabet!  After listening to the song watch the mini-lesson exploring the letter of the day!  After children have mastered all 26 letters and sounds they are ready to begin listening to part 2 of the song with blends, digraphs, and trigraphs.

**Important note: For children who are just beginning to learn about letters it will take more than 1 day per letter. Feel free to have a “letter of the week” and let the child focus on one letter at a time until mastery before moving on to the next.

    S.H.A.P.E Connections

    • Social Emotional: This video allows children an opportunity to self assess their own learning in non-critical ways.  This boosts their own self esteem.
    • Health: The lessons are kept under 3 minutes to ensure minimal screen team for young eyes.
    • Academics: The lessons teach short vowel and consonant sounds.
    • Public Relations: The way a child hears sounds and translates them into writing impact their ability to communicate with others in written format. By firming unique differences in individual letter sounds we set them up for future communication success.
    • Everyone: The lessons provide optional extension resources for teachers and guardians who want to extend the learning off screen.
